HISTORY-MINDED VOLUNTEERS

Date: Spring, 2006
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES AT THE CAMDEN COUNTY HISTORICAL SOCIETY

CAMDEN, NJ -- The Camden County Historical Society is looking for volunteers to help us "collect, preserve and interpret" the countless artifacts and stories that make up Camden County's rich, diverse heritage. Here are just some of the ways volunteers can help us fulfill that mission:

  • School Tours: Volunteers are trained to bring history to life for the many school groups who visit the Society throughout the year. See more about our School programs.

  • Pomona Hall and Museum Tours: Volunteers are trained to lead tours through our 18th-century mansion and two-story museum of Camden County history for older children and adult audiences. See more about our docent programs.

  • Special Events and Programming: No special training needed to help with Society programming throughout the year. Whether it's helping prepare for special programs, manning the registration table at events, preparing refreshments or decorating for the holidays, the more the merrier! See more about our holiday programs.

  • Library: Volunteers are trained to work in our library, doing everything from helping patrons with genealogy searches and special research projects to reshelving books and manning the copy machine. See more about our library programs.

  • Buildings and Grounds: Volunteers with green thumbs and "honey-do" experience are needed to maintain the Society's period herb garden, spruce up the grounds from time to time and keep our buildings looking great throughout the year.

We offer our volunteers flexible scheduling, which means you can volunteer your time occasionally, or as often as you'd like. And if you need to fulfill a volunteer commitment as part of a community service program through your school, church or civic group -- whether it's for a limited time or to complete a specific project -- we welcome your help.
